It is incredible that the basics in life, which regular people routinely had and enjoyed with primitive technology and fewer resources than exist today, are now prohibitively expensive for all but the upper-middle class and above. Your example of dog ownership is a good one.

What happened? All those progressive do-gooders claim to care so much for the "common man" yet demand that the common man adopt their "best practices," which mean a burdensome regulatory state that only large businesses can navigate with their lawyers and lobbyists, meaning you now have to pay corporate America for something that regular people used to just do for themselves. Either that or rely on government assistance.

I think the coming social and economic upheavals will give our species a much needed opportunity to reflect on some big-picture issues. We're like a patient who gets on medication for a heart problem, which then causes side-effects, so he gets on another medication to treat the side-effects from the heart medication, but then the second drug also causes side effects requiring yet another drug to control, and eventually, the patient is on a whole cocktail of medications, when all he really needs is to go on a diet, get some exercise, and lose some weight to get his heart condition under control.

Another awesome piece. Have you read Alasdair Macintyre? He's a neo-Aristotelian. He argues that we live today in a moral post-apocalypse because we have forgotten the basic telos of morality, we use the words, but don't know what they mean.

When can we immigrate to Barsoom, it's going to hell on Earth

"Our betters have conferred, and decided that since we keep outsmarting Malthus, we shall simply no longer be allowed to use our smarts" Indeed. One of the most influential books on my intellectual journey to the here and now was Joel Salatin's "Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal." It was painful to realize the extent to which the managerial elite (I had previously though government, but managerial elite is more accurate) fuck everything up with their stupidity, condescension, and graft. The Malthusian narrative that seems to be animating an acceleration in their irredeemable retardation is completely exasperating. I have faith that reality will ultimately assert itself, but in the meantime the thought of these morons getting chubby at the declining standard of living of the middle class as evidence of the prophecy they are actively promulgating is absolutely maddening. If only they could use their right hemispheres...

Pray for a mild winter my fellow ehuropeans... or throw down your governments. I hear in Netherlands they made progress and Schwab's sock puppet minister of agriculture had to resign.

What a beautiful way to describe this shitshow!

"By serving only themselves, they have ceased to serve their function.

By ceasing to serve their function, they have become useless."

Yes! What to do, what to do...

Let the old world commit suicide. The real shame is the innocent people who’ll get hurt along the way. The future looks, to me, far more alive than the present.

In a rare exception to our dystopian world, the Fauci puppy mill in Virginia was finally shut down by the Humane Society and 2,000 Beagles were freed. While most needed urgent medical care, many were distributed to Rescue centers throughout the southeast. The demands for the abused and neglected pups exceeded the demand, apparently. I tried to get one from Chattanooga and another from Raleigh, NC. In my home town, the local animal shelter is giving dogs away to anyone who wants one.

Money quote. It's classic projection. They are the most useless eaters of them all. Narcissists need to get out from in front of the mirror!

I think eating bugs is just a proxy to distract us from the extermination of pollinators a third of our food supply depends upon.

I suspect in reality they will hold off from any apocalyptic energy shortages this winter since that might well awake something (no CCTV, no lighting tends to make property crime rather easier for those that are into that sort of thing) and use it as a spectre to persuade the population to tolerate ridiculous energy bills bankrupting some and some businesses. I also think the level of incompetence is so high that the entire charade (WEF etc) might be a ploy to get the global population to accept a lesser version of global tyranny while thinking they’ve won.

Reminds me of a possible past life when we used to see if we could make anyone laugh with a witticism or joke as we entered the gas chambers.
