Oh, I've seen my share of interesting over the years. The last couple have been an anomaly due to the enforced boredom. It rather reminds of God-Emperor of Dune - how Emperor Leto II enforced 10,000 years of peace on humanity just to drive home the point that the last thing they really want is peace.
And yeah, I'm very much in sloughing off/gearing up mode, and I agree - that seems to be the zeitgeist.
