I have no problem with intelligent breeding based on quality, compatibility and free choice to create a robust, loving family unit. There are intangibles like scent which operate in the background to signal compatibility. The thing just goes on its own steam under the right conditions (culture).
I think culture needs to consciously chosen to encourage the right breeding patterns. Our modern Western culture is highly dysgenic and will come crashing down because of it.
